Course Description:
This course provides a hands-on introduction to flame working, also known as lampworking. Participants will learn the fundamental techniques and safety protocols necessary to melt and manipulate glass using a torch. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refine your skills, this class offers a great start to your flame working journey.

Course Objectives:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

1. Understand the essential safety measures and equipment used in flame working.
2. Identify and utilize basic tools and materials in the flame working process.
3. Execute fundamental flame working techniques, including bead making and sculpting.
4. Develop an appreciation for the artistic possibilities within flame working.

Prerequisites:
No prior experience is required. This course is suitable for beginners.

Course Outline:

I. Introduction to Flame Working (10 minutes)

• Welcome and participant introductions
• Overview of course objectives and schedule
• Brief history and evolution of flame working

II. Safety Protocols (15 minutes)

• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) overview (goggles, gloves, etc.)
• Safe workspace setup and handling of tools
• Overview of fire safety and emergency procedures

III. Tools and Materials Overview (10 minutes)

• Introduction to essential tools: torches, glass rods, and shaping tools
• Explanation of different types of glass (soft glass vs. borosilicate)
